Dave, or anyone that can assist. I recently purchased a new vessel from out of state and need to transfer the waypoints from SM. I have read every post on the issues that have been encountered but see nothing related to my issue.
I am using a MacBook and spent two hours trying to find an app I could load the waypoints into in order to remove the " ' " The .gpx file downloaded successfully, I just have no idea where to go from here. I am trying to load the waypoints onto as SD card to transfer into 7215 Garmin.

PROCHIP out of Ocean Isle can convert waypoints over for a Garmin unit.
I had same issue with a Lowrance unit. 910-512-6700.

thanks for the recommendation but I'm in Wrightsville and prefer not to have to run my vessel all the way there for waypoint transfer

A gpx file is nothing but a big text file. Just open it and get rid of the '

You can send him the electronic file, he then converts them, then sends you an address card to plug into your garmin. Don't understand why he would need your boat?

found an app that would open the .gpx file. I am now altering the names to remove all the " ' ". If there are GPS coordinates in the data of a waypoint that have N34', do I need to remove the " ' ", or just remove from the name?

Get it all figured out?

I'm having a little trouble too. Downloaded the GPX and couldn't get it to import into my Raymarine Voyage Planner software. Found an old post saying to use this site, https://www.gpsies.com/ , to convert the downloaded Supermap GPX to a new GPX...just a straight GPX to GPX conversion. Bingo, got them imported into Raymarine software. Thinking I'm good to go...nope.

Now to transfer them to the MFD...damn. It only imports 125 of them and gives me an error. With a little searching on the Raymarine forum it looks like it's probably because of the length (>16 characters) of the names of the waypoints. Now to find a program that'll cut those names down, or a high school kid with time and a laptop. Or, a bunch of time to do it manually myself and try again.

Honestly, at least in the case of mine and Raymarine, it doesn't have anything to do with the ' in the names. Most of the ones that imported fine are the short-names like 60' rock, 60' hole, 115' steamship, etc. The ones causing the issue are the "30' AR-420 TOM MCGLAMMERY RE" type long names.
