Please send up some prayers for my "brothers of the phin" from the Argentinian submarine ARA San Juan. Reported missing since this past Wednesday. All of us in the submarine community are praying for them. This has been posted to give an idea of the "brotherhood".
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

All,

Below are my thoughts on the recent developments involving the ARA San Juan. I have used few sentences from Jim Christly description of submarine service and inserted my own thoughts:

“There is something special that exist between all of us that serve in the submarine force, as a bond exist between those of us who have served and those still serving. Every submariner who has ever put to sea and submerged has placed a life holding trust in the hands of another. Sailing aboard submarines is and always will be, a hazardous business. Submarines operate in hostile environments and do constant battle with the sea. When we see a “Straight Board” and slip beneath the oceans waves we experience an abyss that only a submariner can understand and experience. We, who have sailed these stealth vessels, understand the dangers. As submarine veterans, we recognize and pray for those lost at sea in times of war, sea trials and operations. Going in harm’s way is our business, it’s a way of life onboard submarines.

We share these ideologies with all submariners of other nations. We all know the cost of protecting the sovereignty of each of our nations. We pray for the men and families of those aboard the ARA San Juan for their devotion to duty, their safety and hopeful safe return home. Sailing aboard submarines is a perilous business and our thoughts are with this crew.”
