I love the 580g lenses and the almost scratch free and easy cleaning of them, but can't stand the edging that keeps falling off the frames. I am kicking around buying the smith chromapop lenses. Does anyone have experience with both ? |

Costa has undergone some big changes in management and R&D. I had felt the same way about the rubber falling off the frames so easily to the point that I have two pairs. One sits in the case until the others rubber falls off then I send them back and for the shipping charge ($5) they fix them. Now from what I’ve been told from the Costa rep they are using a new polymer for the rubber. The last ones I sent back have this new rubber and it’s great!!! Being on the water every day nothing beats Costa's lens! So if you have a pair that need new rubber send ehm back. Much cheaper than buying a new pair of shades. |

I have sent the blackfins for repairs for the rubber issue and just
received them back. The frames are brand new . It also looks as if they have eliminated some of the rubber in their design from how i remember the old ones.the repair looks great and went very smooth and fast. |

I was using Costa 580G until I found Maui Jims with ST glass a few years back. They had much better fit and clarity for me. Then about 6 months ago I stumbled across a deal on the Smith Chromapop with plastic lenses and these are great. They are super lightweight and are my go-to daily driver glasses but usually revert back to my MJ's for a day offshore. |

No experience with the Costas - but I do have a prescription pair of the Smith Chromapops - and like them! |

love my smith Guide's Choice -- they have the larger sidewalls to block out more sun, super light weight. The Smith logo started to fall off and said SMIT on one side. They've been shipped back to Smith and I'm hoping they send back a new pair, been wearing a pair of $5 YUM glasses until then _________________ Headboat Superstar
