I have an Ugly Stik Tiger Pinning Rod. 7' M rated 20-50 lb line. I need to put a new reel on it and the new Diawa BG reels caught my eye.Does anyone have experience with them and what size would you suggest for that rod?

Thank you.

I do not have experience with the larger models but i use the 2500 on my trout/redfish rod and i love them. They are very smooth and have held up well over the last two years. Heavier than the quantum smokes i use but a great smooth real.

Just remember that Daiwa sized their reels different then Shimano. A 3000 Daiwa is typically the same size as a 4000 Shimano etc...

The BG reels are excellent reels for the money. Tough and smooth.

I have a 3000 I bought last year. Very smooth and capable. Really like it so far. Good value for price I think..

There are some good reviews on Utube. I bought 2 6500's , they are well made for the price. I haven't had them long enough to give much feed back but so far I like them.

I have used a 2500 for a whole. Great reel. Alan hawk rates them up there on his list of reviews.

Thanks for suggestions. two days ago, I purchased a KastKing. This is a great spinning reel. While I used to think all spinning gear was created equal, my thoughts on that have changed of late. The Sharky II is quiet and smooth and it casts "a mile," as the saying goes. The drag worked flawlessly. I am really impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of this reel.

I've caught several BIG red drum and some cow nose rays on them this year and they have worked flawlessly.

I've been using the BG's on charters for the past 2 years and they are tough as nails. I've been impressed.
