Hey everyone - well we hate to bring it up, but as we all know there's a gargantuan hurricane or two barreling through the Atlantic right now. Hopefully you all are preparing the best you can because now is the time.
Since Marine insurance is our thing, it makes sense that we share some info here on SWC on what to do if you need to file an insurance claim.

1. While you are thinking about it and reading this message, take a moment to program your insurance carrier's claims phone number into your phone. We've provided a list of some of the more popular carriers we work with at Wells Marine Insurance below. This list is not comprehensive, so if you don't see your carrier below, give us a call at 910-208-9120.

2. Go ahead and have your policy numbers readily available - you will need them if you need to make a claim. We can help you find this information if you don't have it handy.

3.If you file a claim, be sure to provide a phone number where you can be reached, like a cell number or the number of where you will be staying, since we may only have your home number in our records.

4. Be sure to keep a written and visual (i.e., videotaped or photographed) record of all major items and valuables in your vessel. Create files that include serial numbers and store receipts for major purchases and electronics. These documents are critically important when filing insurance claims.
