Sometimes it just happens like that. Did you maybe look at the secondary waves?

Anytime the wind is out of the NE,E,or SE, the seas will be bigger with a close-spaced chop than what is forecast.

Reefcast was showing 2 secondary waves for Saturday and Sunday. That is what got you, The reefcast without the extra wave info looked great, had you seen the extra wave info you would have known what to expect. I am no expert on it, but just learned to read it last week. Hell, I had never even noticed the drop down box on the screen until then. IT HELPS, bigtime!

Saturday was a bit sporty going out. I knew it was going to be that was because of the extra wave info. It did calm down mid-afternoon though

The secondary will get you every time. I wish the colors were different on those lines. Hard for a color blind guy like me to read that part lol

I'm far from color blind but the extra wave info colors are way too similar.

Colorblind here too, have never been able to read the secondary chart.
About 8% of males are red-green color blind.
BTW, all those nav buoys are the same color, kinda like stoplights.
Have never understood why better color choices are not used.

Anytime you see a secondary wave....It will be sloppy.

Don't even try to read it....It does not matter. IF there is one = Sloppy.

I fished all weekend. RC did fine. It hit is pretty close.

Exactly!!!! I have been saying this for years.. Why are they red and green!!.. I cant see it at all if they are on the water or on the piling in the air with trees or dark color behind them. I am soooo color blind. I am always asking my son What color is that marker???

I get lucky if I can make out the shape!!!

Use the shapes instead of the colors. Reds are pyramid or cone shaped, greens are squares or cylinders.

As far as Reefcast, having the extra wave info as the default view would be a big benefit to folks, I think. Especially folks who don't have as much experience. Because the basic view almost always lies and makes the seas look better than they will be.

That describes how I started. I would look at reefcast, and those 3 foot @ 8 seconds and turn into a washing machine
when reaching the ocean. Took awhile to learn how the secondary wave from another different direction stirred up the water. ReefCast is a great asset when used as a whole. Got
to have that secondary data to get the full picture.
