I've got a 90hp Suzuki four stroke on my skiff. I have always tried to go to the boat place and get an oil filter. I think the one they have is a Sierra brand. My question is will it hurt anything to use a purolator filter from advance auto. They had one that crossed over on the numbers and was rated at 10,000 miles. Not a whole lot of difference on the money just saves me a trip all the way down there for an oil filter.. What y'all think to me I think it will be fine.

You will be fine. Put it on there and put the money you save in gas for the truck in the tank on the boat or a fish here map! wtg

I have a Suzuki DF140 and buy all my DIY maintenance supplies from BROWNS POINT Marine Service. They are way cheaper than any other dealer and very fast with delivery. You may want to check them out. http://www.brownspoint.com

Thank y'all for helping me again. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't screwing it up. I use filters like that on my mowers and tractors and was hoping it would be ok. Got to get ready to roll for the spring.

Be sure if you cross reference numbers they are the same length. A local dealer sold me some suzuki filters of a different number and said they would work just fine. They were a little longer and must have barely rubbed the cover . At 70 hours they rubbed a pin hole in one. Luckily I was close to the dock. Brown point marine is very good to order from

I have Yamaha engines and I crossed Fram filters one time. They rusted up pretty bad. Not sure but the marine grade filters may have some anti-corrosive protection. I use Sierra's now and they hold up pretty well
