Opened the back door, Dixie runs out and I look down and see this. Ran back in to get the pistol hoping this would be off the slate so I could shoot it. The snake was gone. Jay Taylor Exterminating was just here doing their quarterly spraying. I guess that is what flushed it out. Does anyone know what kind of snake it is? I thought copperhead because of the color but the shape of the head seems wrong.

I was working on job last year and right after exterminator left treating the exterior a rat snake was trying to get in door at garage.

I figured the treatment got him moving.

I had one come in the blind with me the other day while turkey hunting. Showed picture to my family. They said I was crazy to stay in the blind.

Next hunt my son went on he wouldn't go in the blind until I "cleared" it out. lmao

Heart-attacks are harmful! I cash my man card in real quick with snakes, but I only kill the poisonous ones. Had to make an exception for one coming in the back door at my hunting camp.

I'm not big on snakes, they don't sit well with me, both of us would be glad he was gone when I got back, wish I was better at identifying them though.

No worries the snake is fine (I guess) no harm came from me. Like I said I went by the color. But I was a little suspicious of the head not being as diamond shape as I thought it should be. I was more concerned if my dog would have seen it and it were a copperhead there would have been a problem. Crazy dog chases skenks, frogs, annoles and flies. She actually caught a fly once. The only reason she did not see the snake is because she was fixated on a squirrel, she ran out the door so fast she just missed it.

Even better is a rat snake. They eat poisonous snakes and rats. The one living in my garage is 5 ft plus. Keeps my wife out of the garage as well. Nothing keeps a wife at bay like a 5 ft snake skin hanging from the rafters.

Very beneficial snake. Docile. Eats Frogs, lizards, and other snakes. Don't kill them. I've read they will eat copperheads moccasins, and black snakes. Sometimes one hanging around can indicate rodents. But most likely he's foraging for the aforementioned critters. I would say if a black snake is present you or your neighbors have rodents. I see the rat snakes quite frequently.

Corn snake, one of the most beneficial and docile of all. Most won't even bite when picked up.

That is a "damn snake", which is the category that I put them all in!!! Glad it didn't happen at my house or there would have been a dark stain in the picture lmao
