Member of the military are signing up in huge numbers, but the number of volunteer boaters is not keeping up.

If you can swing it, please volunteer to take a hero fishing on June 2

We can use an additional 50 or more boats right now

Less than 3 weeks out and waaaay short of boats. We had to shut down troop registration because we already have a lot of Heroes registered with no boats to assign them to. wall For those of you registered, our sincere thanks...but our thanks will pale in comparison to what you will feel by O dark thirty Saturday night June 3.

As many others have already said, if you are on the fence about signing up, have questions about ANYTHING, let us know. Too far out to plan because of weather....don't worry about it. I shoot for offshore every year but let my guys know that it's up to Mother Nature where we fish.

THEY DON'T CARE!!!!!!!!! Tucked in behind Shack catching sharks is fine with them. Small Sea Bass at Port Wall, fine with them.

These men and women deserve everything we can do for them AND MORE. Without their service and sacrifice, where would any of us be????

If you are inexperienced or not familiar with the Morehead City waters, you will get a lot of help from those that are going out.

Inshore, nearshore, offshore we will have folks to give you information and advice. This is not a tournament. Just a day to say One, Simple, THANKS! to the women and men who serve this country active duty.

ALSO. can any one run a 38 foot Viking??? Might also have experienced mates available that have mated on that boat.

The Captain has a son's high school graduation and has offered up his boat.

The smiles last a life time after participating in MAD.....and there will be plenty of food.

Alright guys, I've officially run out of ways to ask/beg for boats. shrug

If you can help, we still have troops not assigned to a boat.

To those already signed up, thanks you and if you don't already know it, you're in for a very rewarding experience, giving back to those who give so much and very possibly making new friends for life. wtg

Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones,

Stuart

Coming up fast on the 80 boat mark. We have topped 100 many times, can we do it again this year?

I sure hope so!

Just signed up to take a troop fishing. We have a group of guys down that same weekend and one just canceled, so we all discussed and decided to register and fill the open spot.
Thanks to my Buddy that had to cancel allowing us to participate.

Ol' Salt we will fill your boat.

Guys this is one of the most gratifying things you will ever do. Alot of these Heroes cant afford a charter so they never experience what we get to do.

They provide our freedom to do this!

If you can take 1-2 Troops out fishing June 3. You will have fun regardless.
They happy catching sharks!

Boater signup link: http://militaryappreciationday.org/wp/morehead-city-chapter-boat-volunteer-registration/

We feed ya good and have good door prizes.
If ya leave hungry it your own fault!

PM me for details.....

ScotK is right on.

This is not tournament, It is fun type fishing or even attempting to fish.

Inshore, nearshore, offshore, kayak, surf or even pier. Just take these men and women fishing and watch them smle and take a mirror because you will find that you are grinning from ear to ear and in your heart.

As ScottK says we will feed you well.....in your stomach and your soul. You will meet a lot of fantastic folks and afterwards you will be saying " have Never seen so many people smiling so much in one place ".

I have a question about troop pickup time and location. What is the earliest we can pick up? Hoping for the best forecast and a trip for mahi trolling. Last year we picked up at 7-730 I believe.

Pick up is as early as you want. My guy is meeting me at the boat ramp at 530. Coordinate your pickup time with your troop. If they dont mind watching the sun rise from the boat then have at it

They have to check in at Jaycee Park ONLY IF THAT IS WHERE YOU ARE PICKING THEM UP

If you are meeting them elsewhere... your boat, your rules, your schedule

What he said. I left from Anchorage Marina for years and now from my motel. Just go to VHF 72 on your way out, hail the MAD Dock, give them the name of your boat and let them know you have your guys(or girls) on board and you're headed out!

Thanks for volunteering and hope to meet you Friday ! wtg
