Alright, I know I am not the sharpest tool in the shed...but for the life of me cannot find on the MAD website or FB page a schedule of events giving me the time, date and location of all the events for that weekend. Can anyone please let me know where to find it?

Sorry about that, in the midst of switching to a new web hosting service. The captains meeting is at Southport Marina Friday 9/8 at 6:00pm. I'll get all the times and get them posted on here!

Thanks again, Stuart

Ok guys, everybody should have just gotten an e-mail from Hank, the Event President for Southport. There is a schedule attached and answers to some FAQ. Anything else anyone needs, don't hesitate to ask!

See everybody in a couple of weeks!!!!🎣🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

STILL NOT TOO LATE TO VOLUNTEER!!!! wtg

What better way to spend a Saturday than out on the pond with some of these young heroes???

Again, if you've been thinking about it, but "still not sure", have any questions or concerns that may be holding you back, let us know!!!!!
We want every one of these young men and women that signed up to get a seat on a boat....can you volunteer? Remember, all of them did!

I'm sure organizing this event is more hectic than I can imagine but I now don't have any troops assigned to my boat. I had 1 USAF guy but he just notified me he was assigned weekend duty so had to cancel. I just emailed Bubba about this. I hadn't been assigned my 2nd serviceman yet either.

In the spirit of this event, i extended an open invitation to this kid so that he could still have a chance to get out on the water whenever he had a chance to get down here. I hope he takes me up on this.

Just let me know I'm getting nervous for no reason and that I'll definitely have 2 troops heading out deep with my next weekend.

Thnx for reaching out to the 1 that had to bail, I'm sure it was appreciated!

We will not be able to attend this year due to daughters wedding...really I tried but she did not understand...We did participate in the Morehead City event because knew the wedding was on the way. GREAT event, GREAT reason, GREAT volunteers...all for GREAT people that do what they do so we can all do what we do!

Know this is a damper, but looking at the weather, is there an alternate plan?

Had to resort to plan-b couple or so years back because of weather , still had a great time but when all the planning, scheduling, sponsors , troop liberty, ect, ect,,, things just aren't the same,,,usually lose some boats and troops.... Lets hope it doesn't happen again,,but safety is first!!!

Want to wish you guys the best with this event, I'm about a year or so away from picking up a new boat, but being a Veteran myself I know how beneficial what you guys are doing can be for our service members.

First off, thank you sir for your service! wtg

Second, you don't have to have a boat to volunteer for a MAD event, PLENTY of other things going on!!! wtg

Thanks to you all who have already signed up! Trust me, we're all keeping an eye on Irma. Going to see what the latest models show tomorrow afternoon and meet and make the call.

Safety for our troops and volunteers always comes first. If it ends up just "blowin" some, offshore boats can become inshore boats!

Keep your fingers crossed, hope to see you all Friday and Saturday!

Stuart

Appreciate it, have followed the work of MAD and others for years and always seem to lock myself into other obligations prior to finding out dates to the next event. Like this time I am boatless and volunteered to coach youth soccer so my weekends are tied up.

OK guys, looks like offshore may be "less than ideal", but that's where plans B and C come into play. These young people DO NOT CARE!!! wtg wtg

Still watching Irma, but as of right now, MAD Southport is still on!!!

Alright guys, after a lot of consideration and input from others, MAD Southport has been postponed. Hank just e-mailed all volunteers with 2 possible make-up dates. I hope it works out so all can still volunteer for the new date!👍🏻Hope to see all of you next month!!!!!!

Thanks, Stuart

The 2 dates Hank sent out are 10/14 and 10/21 to get a feel of how many could still volunteer. It's tough this time of year, LOTS of King tournaments. There are tournaments both of those dates.

It came down to safety for all concerned, volunteers and troops.

Alright guys, we're back on...the new date is 10/21. We've already heard from a lot of volunteer captains and know a lot can't make it. It's tough this time of year, lot of scheduling conflicts. Those that can still make it, look forward to seeing you down there. Plenty of time to talk it up and get some friends to sign up!!!!!

Thanks to all for your support of this great cause!!!! wtg wtg wtg

I'm disappointed that the new date conflicts with another event I have with another great organization (Habitat for Humanity). I'd hate to have to wait until next year to take a couple of deserving troops out. If you hear of any of them that that want to fish but can't make the new day either, I'd be happy to work with a couple of them to find another day to get them out. They'll miss out on the festivities and BBQ but I'll spring for dinner at the restaurant at my marina so at least they'll be well fed. Let me know if this would work.
