Hello, I hope everyone is well. I was wondering if anyone had any pointers for trying to catch shrimp with a cast net around Beaufort? What time of your do people catch them? Around what areas? I have a boat and can throw a cast net. I have had some luck around our dock in the fall but it seems to be a rare occasion. Where do I catch them in the spring? Any help would be much appreciated. My mother is on me about finding some haha

You are wasting your time before July, and it only gets better as the fall goes on. Late September/early Oct are the best but it changes year to year. We actually caught some very nice Green Tails in late July this year which typically isn't normal. If you have a boat and suspect they are in an area just cruise the boat along and look for them skipping.

Just as a followup+
How does one get a boat in there? I can see (Google Earth) a lot of water right around the point, but there do not appear to be ways to access it from the ICW.

The waters are navigable from the inshore coastal waterways. View a nautical chart. I have posted a few screenshot examples from a free online chart viewer I use. Same charts you would see using the mapping card in your chart plotter on the boat, so you wouldn't be confused in difference.
