We were out last Sunday 6/3 heading out around the point at Baptist Assembly and there were some new buoys out in the channel, white buoys and a red and green like a channel marker. Been asking around Oak Island but no one knows anything about them, anyone know anything about them? That is generally the way we go out to get anywhere to stay out of the river channel. Thanks for the info Key West 2020 out of Oak Island.

I think you're talking about the buoys marking the dredge pipe. They've marked a safe passage over the dredge pipe into the western channel (standard red and green). You'll also see yellow and white markers all the way down the beach to where the pipe goes ashore.

If in doubt, you can go out into the channel towards Bald Head and around the dredge boat - there is room between Jay Bird shoals and the dredge pipe into the channel.

Hope this helps.

Yes it does, thanks. Trying to get out this week but failing miserably, hopefully Friday if the weather cooperates. Probably just head out the main channel heading towards Raritan or Horseshoe anyway.
