SEECast-VIIRS Data

NASA reports that the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership spacecraft entered a non-nominal state at approximately 14:50 UTC on July 10, 2026. All SNPP science data remain unavailable, the unavailable observations will not be recoverable, and generation of SNPP science products was disabled at 01:30 UTC on July 11. The outage remains active, with no announced recovery date.

Testing on the SaltwaterCentral Ubuntu 24 migration server showed:

NASA subscription searches for the three configured SNPP regions contain data only through July 9, 2026.
No newer SNPP files are present in the local VIIRS processing database.
No post-outage SNPP files were found in failed processing directories.
The local processor continues to query NASA correctly.
The same processing system continues to discover and process NOAA-20/JPSS1 files.
NOAA-20 chlorophyll and true-color composites were successfully produced for July 15.
The separate NOAA VIIRS SST pipeline produced a current July 16 SST product.

These findings align with NASA’s July 10 outage notice.

Need a little help...... Spanish off Oak Island?

Hi Folks,

Have a friend who has his grandsons from PA visiting and they want to fish in the ocean. Figured the safe bet is troll the beach for Spanish and if they get sick or bored, it's a quick run back in. Would love to take them offshore, but I really don't know anything about them....... so, just going to play it safe until I can learn more about them.

So.... any intel on Spanish off Oak Island will be HUGHLY appreciated.

Fished edge of a hard 3 degree break in 120 feet and could barely keep a line in water. Got 25 mostly gaffers then decided to head out for a big bite. Picked up 2 big gaffers in no man’s land trolling to deep then deployed the blue marlin spread and got hit almost as soon as we hit the 100 fathom line. Broke one off on a dink pole and had another eat a plug and run off on a crazy run before pulling hook. One of them smoked the teaser before we could get it out of water. Trolled a little while longer but it was getting very rough so pulled lines in about 1:00 and headed back

Where are they? I know a few have been caught, but Memorial Day weekend usually is peak. Tried today all around MHC area (inside) with not a sniff or a sighting. Only saw 1 or 2 others that looked to be targeting Cobia, and they didn’t seem productive either. You guys catch them all south of us?!?

I fixed the Default Buoy and Inlet Warning so it all should work as expected this morning. Let me know if anything else is acting up.

I know there is a problem with WFL, EFL and SFL states loading right. I have a fix coming for it.
