Need to just go run the boat…. But wondering if there are any near shore kings left around? Seems the weather and water have cooled much earlier this year than I am used to.

Don’t know if he follows the new version of this site, but we lost a good member/friend from the old fryingpantower.com site that Capt Dave started. “Seahorse” passed yesterday. He was living in Florida after selling his Carolina Beach home several years ago. Heck of a fisherman and good friend.

Carolina Beach inlet

This might be old news for some of you but I thought I would pass this along. I went out Carolina beach inlet last Thursday it was close to high tide and I didn't have any problem. I came back in on low tide and I was in between the cans but couldn't tell by the waves if one side was better or not so I stayed in the middle and hit bottom but I was able to get off. I've been using that inlet for over 30 years and never hit bottom. I have a single engine 23 foot cc.

Along the southern Beaches.....Plenty of Spanish and still some Bonitos around. Kings are close in too. 10 -25 miles. Stream Catches of Tuna and scattered mahi. Spring fishing is heating up. GO KILL SOMETHING!

So are we getting a rec season this year or not? Is NCWRC going to come to the rescue when NC fisheries arrests a rec angler? Or is there just going to be a sacrifice a rec anglers to reduce the population?

I ran out MBI Sunday morning with my brother and uncle. Ran about 25 on the way out and 35+ on the way back in. I just got a new trolling motor on the boat and wanted to try it out so we went bottom fishing. Ran about 20 miles out and worked out to about 35 miles from the inlet. We ran into all kinds of spot tail pinfish and finally got away from them at the last couple spots. Ended the day with a mixed bag, but got on some really nice trigger fish at the last spot. Great day on the water.
