We ran out of Wrightsville on Sunday. Before we went to bed on Saturday night we pulled up SEECast and found what appeared to be a temp break a few miles SW of the 23 mile reef. Lines in - within 30 minutes had double header of mahi. As getting them to boat noticed a huge school of mahi. Stopped trolling and started bailing. They were a little skiddish and hard to entice a bite, but ended up with about 10 slingers in the boat. It was so hot we ended up calling it a day by 11:30. Fun, quick day on the water. Anyone else catching anything?

Trolled for an hour or so and then moved to deeper water in the 400ft range and got slammed by a blue marlin. Almost dumped a 50 wide but was able to land him. That was the highlight of the day. Only had a few short strikes the rest of the day. We moved a little inshore and limited out on beeliners and some other groceries.

Not the amount of fish we were hoping for but otherwise a beautiful day on the water.

Left out of Beaufort Inlet to bumpier conditions that predicted. Bumped our way out to around 20 fathoms and set em out. Not a lot of change anywhere and was tired of beating our way so set em out... trolled toward the deep through scattered grass with nothing. Picked up a couple small mahi around the 100 fathom line in thick scattered grass where the fleet was marlin fishing. Was tough keeping baits clean so pointed back inshore around 1130 to head to some trigger numbers. Got about 3/4mile from the numbers in about 40 fathoms and caught a blackfin. Marked the spot and circled on it and picked up another 2 blackfin. Circled it again and boom, white marlin. Made the release and kept circling. Ended the day with 12 blackfin, 5 mahi, 1 wahoo, and a WM release. Smooth ride back in.
