It's been a while since I've been on this site, my subscription is up in June, after seeing the new format, I don't think I'll be renewing. I was accustomed to the older format, easy yo use and read. I've used reefcast for years and years, ever since Amanda pointed me here. I guess all good things come to an end. If you return to the old format, let me know. Thanks, for the good information over the years, but...… (Talking about reefcast…)

oh, and your mailer for feedback isn't working either....

The Old format is still used in the phone APP.

Give it a few days.....you might like it.

You can actually read the secondary wave info now.

When I get a moment I may very well make both versions available. People do not like change. I get it but there are advantages to the new format.

I have several things yet to do to it. Color shading the 24 hour time periods......Getting some of the colors a little easier to see.

Overall I love it. I think it is a high improvement over the previous version.

A button to switch between versions would be easy enough to do.

Call itClassic ReefCast.

I am not against the idea.

The problem I see is keeping that choice session to session. I could but it wold take a little time.

I would have to either alter the “tools “ table and back port some of the other calls to that table.

Or

Add that choice to an existing cookie or create a new cookie

I will think about it tomorrow while I am fishing.

Here are a few things that I don’t like about the new format after using it every day this past week.
1. The old map was easier to read with more of our SC artificial reefs identified.
2. The old results (still on the app) were simple to read with the 12am to 12pm grid. The new 7 to 7 makes it too difficult to plan a trip. I often leave the dock at 4am. It’s just too much to think about.
3. The new wave period starts at two feet not zero. I find it misleading.
4. Reefcast ensemble was what I used if it was a marginal day. Usually the regular reefcast sufficed. The option to add all of that on the new graph is nice but not very useable.
5. The map needs to be user customizable. All I want to do is put in a few of my favorite waypoints so I can pinpoint what’s there. A 3 mile weather area is fairly worthless if the user can only use a “touch the spot” to find the area he wants to fish. On a phone, my thumb probably covers 20 miles.

Several boats went out today, including a friend of mine who just signed up on my recommendation, and they got their butts kicked. I told him the new reefcast was different before he went but 3.5 waves at 4.5 seconds looked better than it should on the new graph. I, for one, would welcome an opportunity to use what I knew. I’ve used it here in SC for years as well as in FL when planning my crossing to the Bahamas. I’m through bashing so I’m asking politely for a way, other than the app, to see the old results the way they used to be.

I have to agree about the times at bottom. Hard to figure out where 6 am is. Other than that I kinda like it. I can get used to it but old reef cast was easier to read.

Forgetting about the times at the bottom. If you put your cursor on 1 of the dots on the plot line it will show you the time at that dot.

iPhone: Cannot see or click the Choose State button in the upper left. The top banner has it covered up.

https://test.saltwatercentral.com

You will have to login and you may also have to do the whole STATE thing again.

Go try it out and see if this works as expected.

Dave

PS.....
If ya'll don't TEST it......and then I release it.....I do not want to hear any CRAP about it!

Hahahaha, less than a zero percent chance of you not getting any crap around here no matter what...from what I've seen anyway.

I like the new format just fine. Agree with changing the times on the bottom, and it would be nice to have the wind speed and direction lines have colors that contrast each other more, but those are very minor "complaints".

Thanks for all you do Dave.
