I'm going to start keeping my boat in a wet slip in the spring. I'm looking for recommendations for bottom painting in the Carolina Beach\Wilmington area.

The boat has never been painted before so any advice on types or brands of paint would be helpful. I assume some type of hybrid paint would be best as the boat is not used a lot so thinking an ablative would not be best. Also any thoughts on average cost per foot for this kind of thing just so I know when I get quotes if it's a good quote or not. Thanks for any help.

Call Adam Brown with Greenway Coatings Removal. Best in town by far at this kind of work. 910-264-1496

Carolina Beach Boatyard and Marina, they use a hard bottom paint (Pettit Trinidad) it is 70% Cuprous Oxide. Unless you are like me and want to use ablative. Then get Pettit Ultima 60. You are going to need a barrier coating before bottom paint is applied. Prep work is extremely important, also you are going to want to make sure the paint has a biocide in it for slime control.

Brad did my boat this past winter. He is located just as you cross Snow's Cut Bridge leaving CB.

It doesn't get any better for a boat that sits still a lot. If you ran it weekly I'd say Pettit Hydrocote SR.

I make it a point to run it even for 20 minutes up the ICW every week. Being that I use the ablative paint I want fresh paint exposed as much as possible.
