05-30-2016 09:41 PM Yep you read it correctly we headed offshore both days. I had a hearty crew of some of my old buddies from the woods of Pa. After thinking back through all the crap we did and got away with back in the day, I figured the crew would be able to handle what Bonnie was gonna throw at us. We fished abbreviated days both days in the 40 to 45 mile range and the crew managed about 150 lbs. of bottom fish each day, with plenty of action with catch and release jacks, some topwater mahi and a pretty cobia as well. It was fun seeing the old friends and neighbors, and, I hope they enjoy all the fish they carted back to Pa. with them, so they come back down for another trip soon.
The only damage that was suffered was most likely a bit of liver damage, and a hook in my buddy Rick's arm, in which I took great pleasure in removing. It was payback for the time about 15 years ago when he took great pleasure in using a razor knife to literally cut out 2 sets of treble hooks out of my hand that were the gift of a mean old northen pike slinging around a jointed rapala.
The bite is going on, and I can only imagine the carnage that would have ensued if we weren't hobbled by the weather a bit. Back at it again tomorrow. Happy Memorial Day Everybody !!
