Since it appears a lot of piers from Oceanana south have been damaged I was thinking of heading north to OBX. Was wondering which pier folks like to fish off of most and maybe why. Also which motels are good without paying an arm and a leg to stay for 3-4 nights. Thanks for any replies.

Don't know about the motels, but the best pier is the one you're on at the time. As opposed to sitting at home wishing you were on a pier.

I don't fish a lot of piers up that way, but a great way I search for piers, landings, marinas and such is using the boating app on my iPhone. Great tool with contact info for said locations, tides, weather, nautical chart, sonar chart, map options. Has served me well on the water and on land. It will be good to contact the pier location beforehand to make sure it is operational right now. Tight lines!

when I lived there many years ago, the Nags Head pier was as good as any with decent restaurant. It even had a few apartments that they rented out to the fishermen long term or short term. Have not been there in years but might want to check it out.

Thanks downeastern. I did eat at the Nags Head Pier restaurant and it was great. I ended up fishing on the Jennette Pier. Caught I bet 50 speckle trout on Tuesday with 3 keepers in the bunch. A lot of 13 3/4 inch fish. Seems cut mullet was the bait for the day. Had folks on both sides of me fishing with shrimp and the trout wouldn't touch the shrimp. Then on Wednesday the trout shut down. Did get one slot puppy drum and several blowfish and black drum. Was so relaxing just to sit and fish and not worry if I caught anything or not.

Guess the Navionics is the best to try next.
