A few pics. Have a trip all next week so will be at least by then before it goes in. The wait is going to kill me.

I know your pain. Couple years ago when they discontinued the 8212 I picked up 2 in the liquidation sale, it was over 6 months before I was finally able to get them hooked up and use them.

That's a sweet unit. I'm interested to see how they incorporated the Navionics charts into their existing charts. How much Navionics is actually going to be on there.

Iím not sure but from what Iíve seen from another the charts a a lot more in line with whatís actually there than before.

I just tried to install over the weekend and found out my 4210 footprint is way bigger than I really thought and have to have something the help fill in the gap so install is going to be longer than anticipated.

I did power the unit on though and loaded a few waypoints! Itís pretty sweet and hardly any lag in moving around.

I forgot about this thread on THT until I ran across it again. It gives a view of the 7610 and 8610. You can see the differences there

Wow. My 7612 dropped right into the space the 4210 left.

Mine too. I actually had to sand about 1/16" off the bottom.

So the 8600 units moved the sd slot to the rear so that extra space all around the unit is gone. I looked at the cutout sheets and thought Iíd be close but didnít know it would be that much off. My neighbor compared it to his 7612 and you can tell they took a good bit off the side where the sd slot was. Not a huge biggie but getting a company to get back with me on a small piece of black acrylic job has been a challenge.

Hey Will. Did you try to call Sea Hunt and ask them for a piece of acrylic? It seems the new GF 25 console is the same as ours.

Doesnít look like it. I have a buddy Iím prodding to get me something. Seems like everyone else wants over $100 for that small piece cut. I can order online and cut the 8612 out at home and be under $80 but was hoping to not spend much more or any more and get it all taken care of.

Itís like someone else mentioned somewhere. I could always got to an 8616 and call it a day. 😂

Quick and cheap solution to get your install done until you can get the acrylic worked out.

Thanks. I hadnít thought of that one. I have a piece on order. Hopefully it will be here by next week. Iíll have to cut the hole for the unit myself but thatís a simple task and saved over $100 doing it this way.

Had a friend send me a piece of 1/4Ē black cut and routed. I had to cut the hole for the unit and holes I needed to mount it. Going to countersink some black hex head bolts to finish it up the weekend.

Oh yea. I need to get one of zooming in and such and when I can get a chance to get on the water to fire it up for sonar I'll need a video then too.

I'm sure you'll get it pretty quick. Garmin makes the most intuitive electronics IMO. Plus you're a smart guy.....lol

I have a raymarine unit and love it, never given me a reason to want more. But thing looks pretty sweet. My daughters braces might have to wait...

Werewolf0711:

Looking at pics of transducer mounted (great pics by the way!). Just bought Garmin 1042svx with down, clear and side view. I have a single engine and was wondering about mounting it near drain plug. Guess you have twin engines. Think I would be better to mount to side or near center like yours due to side scan? Thanks!

you need to mount on starboard side, so you don't get interference from propwash. My single engine is about a foot or so to the starboard from drain hole.
