Unfortunately my baitwell is the kind that drains through a standpipe right in the middle of the tank. I was tired of having to chase baits around the pipe and the pipe always seems to get in the way of the net. Instead of adding a new drain to the top of the tank which would involve cutting the tank and putting in new hoses and T fitting to the existing drain, I decided to make a new stand pipe which opened up the middle of my tank by running the pipe along the sidewall. Will see how it works as soon as I can get some live bait. Just wanted to share this in case anyone else has the same setup. Paid 7.00 to make it and I still have plenty of pipe left over.

No problem thanks. If anyone is interested and needs assistance is selecting the right pipe just let me know. I was going to use my old plastic screen from the straight standpipe but it was glued to it and broke while removing it, luckily Boats Unlimited in New Bern had a replacement in stock. If you donít have a screen cover for the drain you might be able to just cap the top off and drill a bunch of holes in it.

hot glue a plastic golf ball with the holes on it,( cut a hole in the ball just large enough to let it slide down a little on your drain pipe) if you plan on a bait that swims around the outside like pogies they may rough up their noses, but you got a good idea there, I always did it the hard way, why do manufactures do their livewells like that in the first place with the pipe in it?

I had a similar setup on my SeaPro. Worked well.

Thatís good to hear. A guy told me he has a similar setup on his Sea Hunt and it works fine also.

Can you still pop it out of the drain hole like the standard pipe? How did you make that connection?

I feel like that would annoy the crap out of me because when Iím getting baitnout if the livewell most common method is to run the net along the wall of the well.

Yes it still has the plug on the bottom of it. Took it off the old pipe and used pipe glue/cement to attach it to the new pipe. If it ends up not working right due to the bait hitting it then I will just put the old pipe back in.
