Ok, so my engine has been idling high for a few weeks and I may have found the culprit. On the rear of the engine, a 2009 Yamaha 225, there is a small triangle box towards the top of the engine that looks like it should have 2 vacuum hoses running to it. There is one hose that runs from the IAC valve to the triangle box, and then there is another hose nipple that is vacant. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Not trying to be a smart ass, but have you tried putting your finger over the hose nipple to see if it gets better? If it does buy one of those little rubber caps. It may have dried out and fallen off. Sometimes (but not often) we get lucky.

Barry, I did plug it and it idles down like it should. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something and not sure how it would act at higher rpms.

You can try calling a local Yamaha dealer for a better clarification. But I think that is where the problem is. However I am NOT a mechanic, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn last night lmao . But I think you are on the right track. I can't see a nipple being open like that. If it were meant to be open I think it would have some sort of a filter or screen on it to prevent foreign particles from entering the motor.
