Looking for mechanic recommendations for the HB area, preferably a mobile guy. I have a grounding problem and need my wiring harness grommets replaced. Is anyone familiar with Affordable Mobile Marine?

Had Zimmerman marine do a mobile job for me @ the marina. Good job and reasonable price. I would recommend them & use their services again.

We are looking as well for a mechanic not associated with a dealership.

An experience with Pro tech marine on 179 between Ocean Isle and Sunset?

I am glad they worked well for you.

I would never let that outfit anywhere near anything I own ever again.

If I was on fire, I would not buy water from them.. that is how bad my experience was with them

Reviving this thread

Now I have a problem that will require shop work instead of a mobile guy. I have an oil leak from underneath the powerhead. Possibly the driveshaft seal or the oil pump. This problem came to my attention while diving 50 miles from port yesterday. Luckily I keep a quart of oil on board, going forward it will be 2 quarts. I am VERY concerned that I get the right guy who will fix the problem the first time. My 2005 F-150's have been mostly trouble-free so I haven't had many dealings with local mechanics. My boat is on a trailer so I'm willing to pull it wherever I need to get GOOD service.
Can anyone comment on Marine Service Center in Longs, SC, Southport Yamaha, or Saltwater Marine in Wilmington? Thanks in advance for your input

If you are not in warranty, I would go see David at Cape Fear Marine and auto on Long Beach coming into Oak Island. Stand up guy that a lot of locals use. And I will back up Squid Rows response with stay away from Zimmerman in Southport, heard to many horror stories and not many satisfied customers.

Thanks for the input Pin. I've narrowed my search down to Cape Fear Marine in Southport, Atlantic Marine in ILM and Saltwater Marine in ILM. Any comments?

Saltwater marine in ILM has been handling my outboard since 2002. Knowledgeable mechanics and reasonable prices. Getting an appointment during the summer is quite a wait.
