Hello gentleman I have a quick question for you guys that know more than I. I usually fish out of Southport and run out the cape fear. I’m at Emerald Isle and thinking of giving it try in the morning weather permitting. My question is I’m only about 10 minutes from the public access on Emerald Isle, should I put in there and go out of Bogue or would I be better off to trailer to Morehead, about 30 minutes, and go out of Beaufort? If going to Morehead is the best, where’s the best ramp to put in. I’ve been told Bogue can be a tough one. Any help is greatly appreciated. Just new to this area. Thanks a ton

Bogue is a fairly safe inlet. They just moved the cans and I haven’t been out since then. Beaufort is deep enough for container ships. Take your time and you’ll be fine with either. Pay very close attention to the weather, follow someone out. Have a great time!

Thanks Spanishking. We tried beaufort Saturday. The inlet was pretty stacked up. Wound up turning around along with everyone else. Tried for some Spanish just inside but no luck. Did gain some knowledge of the area though.
Thanks again for the info.

The Inlet at Beaufort really Stacks up on a falling tide with a hard SW. I wouldn't try it with that situation.
Seems like since the dredge 3 or 4 years ago its always been rougher that is was 10 plus years ago
I guess that's due to it being narrow and deeper than it use to be.
Other than that one of the best inlets on the NC coast.
New River can be tricky you would need to follow someone.
Bogue moves around a lot follow someone out and you'll be fine.

Survey plus bouys plus read the water. Bouys are usually the least reliable of the 3 in Bogue inlet.

If you're new to the area and looking for convenience, using the public access in Emerald Isle, which is only 10 minutes away, is a good option. fnf

Are there any specific guidelines or resources for interpreting the XYZ data provided for Bogue Inlet?

If you're only 10 minutes away from the public access on Emerald Isle, it may be more convenient to launch from there. This can save you time and effort compared to driving 30 minutes to Morehead City.

If the public access on Emerald Isle is only 10 minutes away from your current location, it might be more convenient to launch there instead of driving an extra 30 minutes to Morehead.

Just open the PDF surveys and look for the waypoint coordinates. They will all be listed in a box off to the side.

If you're only 10 minutes away from the public access on Emerald Isle, launching from there might be more convenient in terms of proximity. It would save you the additional time and effort of trailering your boat to Morehead.
