1 CREWMEMBER RECOVERED FROM LEE III WRECKAGE NEW ORLEANS – Contracted salvage divers working on the wreckage of the Lee III recovered a crewmember at about 4 p.m. from the partially submerged vessel. Officials at the scene of the accident are working with the local coroner to identify the remains. Divers also report having sighted two additional crewmembers in the wreckage and are continuing their efforts to safely recover them and turn them over to local officials. The five crewmen aboard the Lee III have been missing since their 178-foot offshore supply vessel sank following a collision with another vessel Saturday morning in the Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River. “As these crewmembers are recovered from the Lee III, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of those who lost their life,” said Capt. Ron Branch, commanding officer of the Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Office and Captain of the Port in New Orleans.
