2 BODIES FOUND, HELICOPTER CRASH SITE LOCATED NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has called off its search today after the crash site of an Omni Aviation helicopter was located and two bodies were recovered approximately two miles southeast of Intracoastal City, La., on the north side of Vermillion Bay. The third person aboard the aircraft remains missing, and the two bodies have not been identified. Aboard the aircraft were: Don Ditwlier, 51, from Tennessee; John Lewis, 50, Lafayette, La.; and Kell Anthony Thibodeaux, 39, Abbeyville, La. The crash site was located by a civilian helicopter and reported to the Coast Guard at approximately 6 p.m. today. A boatcrew from the Vermillion Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and took custody of two bodies recovered from the helicopter. The Vermillion Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to search for the third crewmember. The Coast Guard began its search Thursday afternoon after receiving a report from a civilian aircraft that overheard the mayday call.
