2 injured in boating accident in Oregon Inlet, N.C.

FORT MACON, N.C. — A Coast Guard crew, good Samaritans and Sea Tow responded to the grounding of a charter vessel near Nags Head, N.C., Sunday.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet received a report that two people were injured when the 55-foot charter vessel Outer Limits went aground in the vicinity of the Walter Slough Channel.

A good Samaritan was first to respond and transported four of the passengers, including two who had injuries, to awaiting Dare County EMS at the Oregon Inlet Fishery Center. EMS then transported the injured to the Outer Banks Hospital.

A 21-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet responded and monitored while Sea Tow freed the charter vessel.

The Coast Guard crew escorted the charter vessel to the Oregon Inlet Fishery Center.

There were no reports of damage to the charter vessel or signs of pollution.
