2 MEN RESCUED FROM ATOP CAPSIZED BOAT PORTSMOUTH, Va., –Two men were rescued from their capsized boat this afternoon about 2 miles off Hatteras Island, N.C. A 65 year-old man and a 51-year-old man were sitting on top of their 16-foot capsized pleasure craft when someone from the shore noticed them and contacted 911 at approximately 3:45 today. The names of the men and cause of the capsize are unknown. Once notified, a 47-foot rescue from Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet launched to assist and located the men at 4:15 p.m. The crew of the rescue boat pulled the men to safety and transferred them back to the station. The men did not require medical attention.
