NOAA Fisheries Asks the National Academy of Sciences to Study Seafood Benefits and Risks

NOAA Fisheries has contracted with the National Academy of Sciences to recommend approaches to decision-making in selecting seafood. The study objectives include: 1. Estimating current levels of exposure to naturally-occurring and introduced toxicants in seafood; 2. Assessing the availability of specific nutrients in seafood; 3. Developing recommendations on how to maximize nutritional benefits while minimizing potential exposure risks; and, 4. Identifying additional data and research needs.

A public meeting will be held from 1 ÃƒÆ’Ã†â€™Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â¢ÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…Â¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â¬ÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚Â¬Ãƒâ€¦Ã¢â‚¬Å“ 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at:
