McIntyre Supports Clean Beaches Congressman McIntyre recently signed onto a resolution recognizing Clean Beaches Week. McIntyre is Co-Chairman of the Congressional Waterways Caucus and a member of the Congressional Coastal Caucus. American families and international tourists make over 2 billion trips each year to America’s beaches to fish, sunbathe, boat, swim, surf, and bird-watch. Our coastal areas produce 85 percent of all US tourism dollars, fueling a huge economic engine that is largely dependent on clean beaches to succeed. Last year, over 50 governors and mayors along both ocean coasts and in the Great Lakes region issued proclamations and letters of support for National Clean Beaches Week. This year, the Clean Beaches Council will continue to highlight the four major themes important to beachgoers: a clean beach environment, fun travel to the beach, healthy seafood, and beach and water recreation.
