Come hear expert speakers talk about the potential impacts of the Navy’s proposed sonar range on commercially and recreationally important fish, sea turtles and marine mammals and the gaps in current scientific knowledge.  Find out what happens now as the environmental impact statement process moves forward and how you can make your concerns heard at an upcoming Navy meeting.

Dr. Joseph Luczkovich, East Carolina University—fish acoustics and behavior


Dr. Larry Crowder, Duke University—sea turtle impacts


Dr. Ann Pabst, University of North Carolina at Wilmington—marine mammal impacts


Dr. Louis Daniel, N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries—catch data and bottom mapping


Michelle Nowlin, Southern Environmental Law Center—gaps in Navy analysis, EIS process


Andrew Wetzler, Natural Resources Defense Council—national legal/policy issues


There will also be a stakeholder panel representing commercial and recreational fishing and the sea turtle hospital sharing their questions and concerns—Melvin Shepard, Captain Joe Shute and Jean Beasley.
