North Carolina Man Rescued After Drifting at Sea for Four Hours Without a Lifevest

Wrightsville Beach, N.C., – A North Carolina man was rescued this afternoon four hours after a good Samaritan reported seeing his 33-foot Contender boat at sea with no one aboard.

William Bright, a 55-year-old Wilmington, N.C., resident, was rescued by a good samaritan assisting a Coast Guard 47-foot search and rescue boat from Station Wrightsville Beach and a HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Elizabeth City in the search.

The Coast Guard strongly recommends boaters wear lifevests and file a float plan with their family and local marina before heading out on the water.
