I. AREA DESCRIPTION

BRUNSWICK COUNTY

Atlantic Ocean – all waters enclosed by a line beginning at southeastern tip of Bald Head Island at a point 33° 50.4833’ N – 77°57.4667’ W running southerly to a point on Frying Pan Shoals 33° 46.2667′ N – 77° 56.4000′ W, then following the three mile limit to a point three miles offshore on the extension of the NC/SC border 33° 49.1955′ N – 78° 30.3170′ W then following the NC/SC border to the shoreline.

II. GENERAL INFORMATION

A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103; 3L .0101 and .0202.

B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3H .0103.

C. This action is being taken to protect small white shrimp that were forced into these areas by heavy rains.

D. This proclamation supersedes portions of SH-4-2006, dated April 25, 2006.

E. This area is projected to open around October 1, 2006 depending on sampling results. A proclamation opening this area will be issued at a later date.

Jarrett Bay- South of a line beginning on Davis Island 34° 45.4497’N – 76° 29.2512’W; running northwesterly to a point at the site of the Old Chimney 34° 45.5202’N – 76° 30.0661’W.

II. GENERAL INFORMATION:

A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103; 3L .0101 and .0202.

B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority per N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3H .0103.

C. This action is being taken to allow harvest of white shrimp that are present in these areas.

D. This proclamation supersedes the portion of Proclamation SH-5-2006, dated June 20, 2006 that pertains to this area.

Outer Shallowbag Bay- east of a line beginning on the northeast shore at a point 35° 54.6729’N – 75° 39.8099’W; running southerly to the southeast shore to a point 35° 54.1722’N – 75° 39.6806’W.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

1. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103; 3L .0101 and .0202, and 15A NCAC 3N .0105.

2. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3H .0103.

3. This action is being taken to allow harvest of brown shrimp that are present in these areas.

4. This proclamation supersedes the portion of Proclamation SH-5-2006, dated June 20, 2006 that pertains to this area. This Special Secondary Nursery Area will close pursuant to 15A NCAC 3N .0105 at midnight on May 14, 2006.
