2007 Bluefish Management Measures Proposed

2007 Bluefish Management Measures Proposed

NOAA Fisheries has proposed 2007 management measures for the Atlantic bluefish fishery, including state-by-state commercial quotas, a recreational harvest limit, and recreational possession limits. The intent of this proposed rule is to ensure that harvest levels and possession limits are consistent with the stock rebuilding program for bluefish. A coastwide total allowable catch (TAC) of 32.033 million lb was recommended by the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council at its August 2006 meeting. This proposed rule

also describes the recommended allocation of the TAC for the commercial and recreational sectors, and the research set-aside quota.
