2013 SHRIMPING AND CRAB TRAWLING

Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that the following areas WILL OPEN to shrimping and crab trawling effective at 8:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 23, 2013.

I.    AREA DESCRIPTION

      BRUNSWICK COUNTY

Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) – main IWW channel only from Marker # 1 (Southport) to the Holden Beach Bridge and from Marker #101 near Seaside to the South Carolina State Line.     

II.   GENERAL INFORMATION:     

A.  This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rules 15A NCAC 03H .0103, 03L .0101 and .0202.

B.   It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rule 15A NCAC 03H .0103.

C.  This proclamation supersedes SH-5-2013, dated August 11, 2013, and SH-4-2013, dated June 14, 2013, that closed the above area

I. AREA DESCRIPTION

BRUNSWICK COUNTY

Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) – main IWW channel only from Ocean Isle Beach Bridge to the North Carolina/South Carolina state line.

II. GENERAL INFORMATION

A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-170.4; 113- 170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rules 15A NCAC 03H .0103, 03L .0101 and .0202.

B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Rule 15A NCAC 03H .0103.

C. This action is being taken to protect brown shrimp that are present in these areas.

D. This proclamation supersedes portions of Proclamation SH-2-2013, dated May 1, 2013, that opened the area above.
