NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard and several good Samaritan vessels are actively searching for a person in the water near the Hale Boggs Memorial Bridge, near mile marker 119, on the Lower Mississippi River, Wednesday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders were notified of a capsized 24-foot workboat with four people on board, by phone at 10:45 a.m.
Search and rescue coordinators dispatched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Coast Guard Station New Orleans.
Good Samaritans rescued three of the individuals on the boat after it capsized. The rescued individuals were reportedly wearing life jackets.
The reason for the vessel capsizing is currently under investigation.
