New Gretna, NJ – The merger of the North Atlantic Shark Tournament and the Monster Shark Tournament has created the premier shark tournament in New England for 2016, The North Atlantic Monster Shark Tournament (NAMST) has a collective 30 year history and continues to be the bench mark for offshore shark anglers drawing upwards of 150 boats. The tournament will take place on July 15th and 16th in the port of New Bedford, MA with weigh-ins taking place on State Pier 3. This entirely non-profit event serves to promote the research and conservation of pelagic species and their ecosystems as well as to preserve the right to fish through its support of organizations like the Recreational Fishing Alliance. The tournament also honors the late Capt. Steve James whose legacy with the Boston Big Game Fishing Club and shark conservation and research is recognized through a scholarship created in his name.
With $20,000 in prize money and a Calcutta payout of 100% monies collected, fishing the NAMST is a great way to support groups like the RFA and research programs that work to ensure the long-term sustainability of our nation’s marine resources. The NAMST has partnered with the Community Foundation and your entry fee is now a charitable donation. You will get an official letter stating such.
