Here are the coordinates that marked the centerline of deep water yesterday. Don’t try to use these unless you have a differential or WAAS corrected gps. A normal GPS will not give you enough accuracy.
WAYPOINT_#1 N 34 04.6434814 77 51.7968358 W
WAYPOINT_#2 N 34 04.7432539 77 52.1084184 W
WAYPOINT_#3 N 34 04.8732726 77 52.3980034 W
The channel is very narrow.
The buoys are marking the channel pretty well, but you might want to favor the first red one (No. 2) and then split the rest.
I don’t know how long this channel will stay open, but there doesn’t appear to be another slough opening up.
The MERRITT just started working Lockwoods Folly Inlet (3-feet of water there) and we are getting reports of severe shoaling at New River Inlet.
These waypoints, maps, & associated information represent the results of surveys made on the dates indicated & can only be considered as indicating the general conditions existing at that time. Because these conditions are subject to rapid change due to shoaling events, a prudent mariner should not rely exclusively on the information provided here.
Please let me know if you see anything change.
