Carolina Beach Inlet Receives Full Federal Funding of $1.23 Million
Coastal Projects Get Boost from Congress
Washington, D.C – U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre has announced that Carolina Beach Inlet has been approved for full federal funding for the upcoming fiscal year by the U.S. House Energy and Water Appropriations Committee.
Congressman McIntyre states, “Despite all odds, we were able to secure the full funding amount of $1,230,000 for maintenance dredging in Carolina Beach Inlet. We have demonstrated the national impact of our shallow draft inlets, and this funding demonstrates a federal commitment to keeping these engines of economic development running in our coastal communities.â€ÂÂÂÂ
“This is a big victory for our citizens and communities. I am committed to fighting to keep this funding in place as the appropriations measure now comes to the floor of the House for final approval.â€ÂÂÂÂ
The House bill includes the following projects: Carolina Beach Inlet, $1,230,000; New Topsail Inlet, $670,000; Wilmington Harbor Deepening, $4,000,000; Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, $4,900,000; Wilmington Harbor Maintenance, $11,200,000; and Cape Fear Locks and Dams, $588,000.
