Navigation Update
The Carolina Beach Inlet Association and others were recently notified of a change in the channel currently being dredged in Carolina Beach Inlet.
You may recall, there has been a "dog-leg" that you had to navigate, and the buoys would help you through it.
Big Change – Don&#\1;t Follow the Buoys!!
The ACE is dredging the channel straight out toward the sea buoy.
Meaning the channel is straight, no longer a dog-leg, so the buoys are NOT aligned correctly. It is not advised that you follow the buoys, but rather read the water and navigate accordingly, and straight to the sea buoy.
Should you not feel comfortable navigating the water, another option would be to follow one of the charter boats out, or use Masonboro Inlet until the buoys are reset.
We hope to have more information from the US Coast Guard and their timetable to reset the buoys, and will send out an update afterwards.
