CG Transfers Injured Man To Life Flight Helicopter ATLANTIC CITY, N.C. – The Coast Guard transported an injured 25-year-old man to a Life Flight Helicopter after he had jumped off his boat and into four feet of water around 7:30 p.m. today. Coast Guard Station Wrightsville Beach, N.C. launched a 23-foot rescue boat to the scene near Masonboro Island. The man had hit his head and stated he couldn’t feel his legs. Coast Guard crewman transferred the man to their boat and brought him to the station where emergency medical personnel were waiting. Shortly later, a Life Flight helicopter arrived and flew the man to New Hanover Memorial Hospital. The Coast Guard encourages all boaters to be aware of the water depth they are in and to always wear a lifejacket.
