MIAMI — The Coast Guard approved the temporary closure Dec. 27 of the Florida East Coast Railroad Bridge to marine traffic across the New River near Fort Lauderdale.
The temporary closure of the bridge granted to All Aboard Florida is scheduled from 12:01 a.m. Feb. 11 until no later than 12:01 a.m. Feb. 23 and is necessary to complete required repairs to the bridge.
“The deviation to the bridge’s operating schedule is necessary to perform major bridge repairs,” said Capt. Megan Dean, Sector Miami commander. “This deviation allows the bridge to remain in the closed-to-navigation position. We have worked closely with the construction company and local mariners to minimize the impact to waterway users. This temporary closure is necessary in order to avoid longer closures in the future.”
