Coast Guard, Glynn County Sheriff’s Office respond to save woman

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Coast Guard rescue crews from Air Station Savannah, Ga., and Station Brunswick, Ga., along with Glynn County Sheriff’s Office and Good Samaritans have responded to a sunken shrimping vessel north of Brunswick along the Front River in Sapelo Sound, Ga. this evening to help locate a missing woman reportedly still trapped inside the vessel.

A Good Samaritan called the Coast Guard at 6:06 p.m. and notified them that the Wind Song, homeported in Sneadsferry, N.C., had sunk. The Good Sam also reported one male and one female were initially on board.

Harry Ray Liverman, resident of Sneadsferry was able to escape the vessel. Glynn County divers are in the water and searching for the one female reportedly still inside the vessel.

The cause of the sinking vessel is not known at this time. Marine Safety Office Savannah may investigate the cause.
