Coast Guard, local agencies search for man near Trenton boat ramp
PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard, Trenton Fire Dept. and New Jersey State Police Dept. are searching Saturday for a missing jet skier near the Trenton boat ramp.
Missing is Jesus Diaz Melendez, 26, of Trenton, New Jersey.
The crew of the vessel A.J. Meerwald came upon a jet skier who stated he and Melendez ran aground on the jet ski, which ejected both of them. Melendez couldn’t be located after the incident. At 7:07 p.m., the crew of the A.J. Meerwald contacted Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay and reported Melendez missing.
Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders launched a Station Philadelphia 29-foot response boat crew and an Air Station Atlantic City MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to respond. The boat crew picked up the jet skier who confirmed his friend was ejected from the jet ski.
