Coast Guard medevacs 1 from fishing vessel 103 miles east of Cape Lookout, NC
PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard medevaced a crewmember off the fishing vessel Alex Marie approximately 103 miles east of Cape Lookout, N.C., Wednesday.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. watchstanders at the Coast Guard’s 5th District Command Center received a report from aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Bear stating they were in radio contact with the crew of the Alex Marie. The crew of the Alex Marie said they had a 46-year-old male in need of a medevac.
A health services technician from the Bear embarked the Alex Marie to evaluate the man and recommended the medevac.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and a HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City were dispatched. The Jayhawk’s crew transferred the man to Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, N.C.
