SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard rescued two men from a capsized commercial fishing vessel that was located approximately six miles west of San Francisco Monday.
The Coast Guard’s state-of-the-art Rescue 21 system pinpointed the vessel’s last communication approximately six miles away from where the crew reported it to be. A Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco helicopter crew and Station Golden Gate Motor Lifeboat crew were dispatched immediately, and the boatcrew arrived at 10:40 a.m. and retrieved the two-crew members from the water. Neither of the crewmembers were injured; however, both suffered from mild hypothermia. They were taken to Station Golden Gate where they refused further medical evaluation and were released.
