BALTIMORE — Coast Guard crews are responding to a report of a possible person in the water at Dark Head Creek, off of Middle River adjacent to the Martin State Airport, Wednesday.
At approximately 1 p.m., Coast Guard Sector Maryland-National Capitol Region watchstanders received notification from Baltimore County dispatch of a 70-year-old male in the water in Dark Head Creek.
A person on shore told Baltimore County she witnessed a small vessel sinking and the 70-year-old male jump in the water without a flotation device. She then saw a good Samaritan toss a lifejacket to the man but he was unable to reach it and went underwater without resurfacing.
Coast Guard Sector Maryland-National Capital Region’s Command Center is currently coordinating search efforts with a boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Curtis Bay, Baltimore County Marine and County Fire along with a Hartford County Dive Team in the area of the last know position.
