Coast Guard suspends search for missing South Carolina diver


CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coast Guard suspended its searcn for a missing diver in the Ogeechee River, Ga., Monday night.


Veto Bartuchie, 48, resident of Port Royal, S.C., was reported missing Sunday around 5 p.m. when he did not resurface to meet his friend waiting for him in a boat.


The Coast Guard immediately launched a helicopter rescue cres from Air Station Savannah, Ga., and a rescue crew from Station Tybee Island, Ga., to search the area. Crews from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Chatum County Sheriff’s Department and Richmond Hill and Bryan County Marine Rescue Squadrons also assisted with the search.
