Coast Guard tows adrift vessel in rough seas near Beafort Inlet, N.C.
The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Cochito towed a disabled sailboat adrift in rough seas with three people aboard 46 miles south of Beaufort Inlet, N.C., Tuesday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina received a call via VHS channel 16 from the 44-foot sailing vessel Dove II stating they were out of fuel and adrift with torn sails.
The weather conditions on scene were 8- to 12-foot seas with 25-knot winds.
The Cochito was diverted to assist, and took the vessel in tow at 3:20 p.m.
At 11:07 p.m., Seatow arrived on scene and took over towing the disabled vessel to the Beaufort docks.
The Cochito is an 87-foot patrol boat homeported in Norfolk, Va.
