A friendly reminder that swan lottery tags must be purchased prior to October 1st. I lease roughly 20,000 acres very near and bordering the Pocosin Lakes NWR in Tyrell and Washington Counties.

If anyone is interested in hunting swans and snows drop me a line.

Why the hell would you want to shoot a swan? Just curious. Are they good to eat?

The can be good to eat. A couple variables impact how they taste; age of the bird of course, what they have been eating, and how long they have been in NC from their long migration. I have cleaned birds for clients that you could see their breast bone through their breast meat because they had just arrived from their thousand plus mile migration and their body condition was very poor.

Most hunters want to kill a swan to have it mounted and added to their collection of waterfowl species. Unlike large pelagic species it is impossible to catch and release a bird. LOL

Yes sir, we also have flooded timber hunts, impoundments, and stake blinds along the Chowan river and the OBX.
